Born from a memory. Inspired by Greece. Designed in Saint-Martin.

To Mati Boutique didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with a memory.

The very first T-shirt was something I created for myself, as a tribute to my late Greek grandmother. On it were the words “Ta matia sou dekatessera”, a Greek expression she used to say to me all the time, meaning to keep your eyes open, stay aware, and pay attention to what’s around you.

It was one of those little phrases that had stayed with me long after she was gone, and turning it into something I could wear felt like a way of carrying a piece of her with me.

One day, while wearing the T-shirt at work, a woman stopped me to tell me how much she loved it. She asked where it was from — and when I told her I had made it myself, she said, “You should make one for me.”

And just like that, an idea was born.

I started creating a few more pieces, experimenting with designs inspired by Greek culture, symbols and expressions, and eventually brought them to a local market in Saint-Martin. People connected with them. They bought them, wore them, asked about their meaning, and what had started as one personal T-shirt slowly became To Mati Boutique.

From Greece to Saint-Martin

To Mati means “the eye” in Greek.

The brand is a celebration of my Greek roots, reimagined through the life, colours and energy of Saint-Martin, the Caribbean island I call home.

Every design is created in Saint-Martin and carries a little piece of Greece with it: from ancient mythology and traditional expressions to the iconic Greek eye and the idea of protecting your energy.

To Mati is about more than clothing. It’s about heritage, memories, identity and the stories we carry with us.

What started with my grandmother’s words has grown into something I can now share with people around the world.
